The Day After the Terror

September 11, 2001.

A day that will never be forgotten...a true day that will live in infamy, that will forever be ecthed into the American mind, seared onto the American soul, burned into the skin and never can be removed.

For on that day, terrorists hijacked four planes--767 and 757s. Two crashed into the World Trade Center in the early morning hours. The third crashed into the Pentagon. The fourth crashed near Somerset, PA and killed everyone on board. (So did the first three, but I hope that you figured that out). The World Trade Center towers collasped--it is no more. There are somewhere in the thousands dead, many injured and may not live. It is doubtful that survivors will be pulled from the shards that are all that remain of the Center's towers. The city of New York burned, the planes burned. People died. Service workers, only trying to help the injured, were killed in the collapse as the World Trade center, attacked before by a bomb, made to withstand the impact of a 727, exploded, burned, and fell under the full impact of two 767 jet ramming into each tower. We had no warning. There was no way we could have known this would happen.

I found out seconds after it happened, when my friend Koshi IMed me and told me what had happened. One minute, I was blissfully surfing Neopets in the lab, and the next, I'm trying to get the news sites to load so I can see what the hell just happened. I didn't see it live, there was no way I could get to a TV on campus. But I saw the videos when I got home (my second class was canceled, and Jen's classes were too, so we got home early) and I watched them well into the night.

I feel sick (and not just because I have a cold). It hurts, like I've been kicked in the stomach by someone wearing football cleats. I never thought stuff like this would ever happen. Guess I was naive. to think that someone would hate the US so much that they would hijack planes and slam them into the World Trade Center and the Pentagon--killing everyone on board--innocent women, children, civilians who had no right to be hurt over someone's idea of justice...

The pilots would not do this. they were either dead or incapacitated when the planes crashed, for no pilot, even with a gun to his head, would hurt his own country like this--the people who did this planned this, it was premeditated murder of innocents...

The entire East coast practically shut down. All planes were grounded, international flights rerouted to Canada. The US went to Threatcon Delta or Defcon 5--which is the tighhest security that can be up. It's like preparing for war. Disney World shut down--Disney World *never* shuts down. Baseball games, sports games, all stopped. Wall Street closed down. Washington DC shut down. All of New York City closed down--the tunnels, the subways, everything. I was there just over a year ago myself, on a family reunion. I saw the World Trade Center. Now it's...just gone.

Dyzzy's mom works at the Pentagon. She called in sick and so she didn't go to work today. Someone else called in sick today. Someone decided not to go to work at their job in the World Trade Center and they lived--they are the lucky person. Some people cant' find thier moms, thier dads, their children--many people's worlds have been shattered in a explosion of flames, glass and twisted metal. The whole building collasped. People lept from the buildings rather than just wait to die. The building tumbled, sending out ash and debris for blocks. A cloud, like from a volcanic eruption, engulfed everything in it's path--people were tampled as they tried to flee for thier lives, terrified of dying at the hands of madmen.

The pictures look like something out of a war zone--ground zero. People staggered out, covered in ash and blood, too shocked to blink or talk. Like scenes out of a horror flick--a action movie that is horribly burned, ecthed onto my mind forever, that I can never forget happening...never get out the image of the planes, slamming into the building, people running for their lives, screaming, burning, dying...

And somewhere, someone actually celebrated. In the middle east, people were dancing in the streets. some leaders said that we deserved this, because we had done the same. Crimes against humanity, Saddam Hussein said--when he would kill his own people to save himeslf. We are a large nation, a powerful nation, and we don't go around killing the babies of nations when unprovoked. You don't see us stabbing civilians just because they're not American. You don't see us flinging ourselves into building and proclaiming that our life is being used for killing infidels and think it will send us to heaven. This was unprovoked--we did not attack, and yet, our people were mowed down without a chance.

That turned my stomach and made my blood boil. I don't care what you think of the US, or what your opinons are. No one should dance when people die. No one deserves this. An eye for an eye is wrong--you do not attack people who never did anything to hurt you, simply because they were born here in America and you were not. The people who partied are the worst people ever to be born, for teaching their children to celebrate the death of the innocent. The worst sort of cowards did this to us, and they should be brought to justice for harming us. President Bush is right--we should kick the ass of anyone who even thinks to harbor the people who are behind this, living or dead.

no, america will not fall and die in the flames. We will rise, an angry phoenix, and hunt those who have hurt us and gouge their goddamed eyes out. These countries should be damned, pariahs in the world, locked inthe symbolic closet and never let near the light of day--I would go so far as to wipe them off the map if I had the power to do so.

The people who took over these planes and flew them into the building are the worst kind of people. They believe that attacking the innocent is the way to make us bow down. They hurt people to further some stupid cause. They think that by killing themselves in the name of religion, that they are doing right. Which is why religion is the worst thing man ever invented. Someone compared this to Pearl Harbor. No, not anything like it. Pearl Harbor was country, targeting another, during a war, and attacking the military. People who were willing to serve the country and protect it. These were people who should have never died like this.

A woman caught a later flight. She should have flown Tuesday, but she wanted to take her husband to breakfast on his birthday. She is dead.

Two of the victims in the planes were babies. Two little innocent girls. A two year old, and a four year old. They didn't know what war or danger was. They couldn't even say Middle East, Palestine, or Taliban, much less know what the worlds meant. They were with their parents, on a trip to go somewhere special, somewhere new to them--and they were killed. Murdered. They didn't deserve this. They were only little babies...little babies, killed because someone hates where they were born...

they were just little babies...babies that screamed in thier mommy's arms as the plane slammed and cut thier little lives short--they died never knowing what it's like to go to school, or lose teeth, or make friends...they never had a chance to know what life is and they were killed...

babies that should never have died for something so stupid...*sob*
